Ashland Historical Society
Ashland, MA
This extensive historic preservation project included the complete renovation, addition to and restoration of the Ocean House (c. 1748) for use as the Ashland Historical Society’s museum, display area, meeting room, and office spaces. GRLA’s design solution included the salvaging and restoration of all trim and the incorporation of new finishes. A clever design concept expanded the formal small meeting room and included complementary historic detailing. The design also included the careful and discrete integration of new mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and electrical systems. In addition, areas were provided to display historic construction techniques and original finishes.
“GRLA guided us every step of the way through a very difficult project. They found an able contractor that fit our special needs, a key concern of ours, and were always conscientious and thorough. Gorman Richardson Lewis Architects are the nicest people to deal with... they become your friends.”
~ Frank Powers, Former President Ashland Historical Society
