BUILDING ENVELOPE SCIENCES
ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER
Gorman Richardson Lewis Architects is currently hiring an experienced Building Envelope Sciences (BES) Assistant Project Manager. The ideal candidate will have 5 to 10 years of related experience in building envelope systems, with the following minimum requirements:
Experience:
Professional staff member with consistent Building Envelope industry experience in new and existing construction, including on-site review and investigation of building envelope failures and testing.
Report writing and documenting field conditions.
Drafting including construction details in AutoCAD/Revit.
Bachelors or Master’s degree in Architecture or Engineering or applicable construction related experience.
Registered Architect, EIT, PE or other Building Envelope credentials.
Knowledgeable of applicable Building Envelope codes (MSBC, IBC) and standards (NRCA, FM, BIA, ASTM, etc.).
Responsibilities:
Performs Building Envelope Studies including on-site review and preparation of technical reports. Provides direction to contractors assisting with investigations.
Performs forensic testing of Building Envelope Components such as water testing, air infiltration testing, air/vapor barrier testing, infrared scanning.
Prepares Construction Documents including plans, elevations, detail drawings and specifications for BES Work.
Preparation of material quantity estimates and preliminary construction cost estimates.
Construction Administration tasks including Construction Site Visits and associated reports, Submittal Review, RFI and Change Order review and correspondence.
Assists in coordination of project tasks and schedules.
Coordination of project assistance from BES Technicians.
Reports to BES Project Managers and BES Director.
Assists with project Contract Management (review budget and invoices), fee proposals, and project/industry related presentations.

Mentors BES Technicians in project organization, technical knowledge, etc.
Has own transportation to travel to project sites and meetings (mileage is a reimbursable expense).
Willing to safely work from roofs, aerial lifts, staging.
Able to work flexible hours based on project/office needs.
