Bobbi Gibb Sculpture

Hopkinton, MA

Roberta 'Bobbi' Gibb made history as the first woman to run and complete the Boston Marathon in 1966, a remarkable feat accomplished several years before women were officially accepted as recognized runners in the event starting in 1972. To pay tribute to her groundbreaking achievement, a life-size statue of Gibb, aptly titled “The Girl Who Ran,” and sculpted by Gibb herself, is set to be installed at the iconic Boston Marathon start line. GRLA has been entrusted with the responsibility of designing the surrounding exterior space where this significant sculpture will be displayed.
