Building envelope commissioning
Over the last several years Building Envelope Commissioning (BECx), which is a quality-focused process designed to ensure exceptional performance of the building envelope, has become a key and necessary component to new construction. Our team provides BECx to architects, Owner's Project Managers (OPMs) and Construction Managers (CMs) during the design, bidding, and construction phases.
Working collaboratively with the owner, architect, and contractor, we strive to add value to each project we work on with a focus on meeting owner’s project requirements, the architect’s design intent, and the contractor’s delivery of quality construction. BECx goals are:
Continuity and Conformance
Constructability
Design Intent
Performance
peer review/pre-construction
Architectural drawing set and specifications review of the building envelope
Written narrative and annotated (“red-lined”) drawings with conceptual sketches
Identify Owner’s-Performance Requirements (OPR)
Submittal Assistance
Commentary and recommendations for applicability and conformance with the contract documents, expressed design intent, and applicable industry standards
coordination meetings
Conduct/attend commissioning kickoff and pre-task meetings
construction observation
Site visits to observe progress of the building envelope system installation and documentation including non-conforming work for correction
