International Marathon Center
and Hall of Fame

Hopkinton, MA

The 26.2 Foundation has been diligently working on the concept of an International Marathon Center to be located in Hopkinton since 2008. The 26.2 Foundation’s goal is to preserve and advance the importance and contributions of marathoning and endurance sports, advancing the ideals of sportsmanship, competition, fair play, and the power of the human spirit.

GRLA has been involved from the beginning developing conceptual site plans, floor plans and renderings to define the concept, develop costs and overall project schedule and assist with the project application to the Town of Hopkinton. The vision is to create a state-of-the-art museum destination that engages guests intellectually, emotionally and physically, and that encourages repeat visits through compelling, interactive exhibits and best-practice educational and cultural programs. The center will include marathon focused museum displays, a Marathon Hall of Fame, an auditorium, conference and event spaces, exhibition halls, as well as education and research space.

GRLA carefully designed the site plan to incorporate the natural resources of the property and the character of the Town of Hopkinton and to effectively fit a 25,000 SF facility onto the site and provide a contemporary image of marathoning.
