GRLA completed a Center for Innovation for PerkinElmer at their Hopkinton, MA location. The 110,000 SF renovation and expansion projects are home to a research and development team of scientists and engineers focusing on sectors such as biotherapeutics, cell imaging, and genomic analysis. The design challenge was to create spaces that encourage collaboration and efficiency while maintaining safety and security for the global life science leader.
Collaborative work area solutions were achieved through an open floor plan organized around a central, two-story hub that connects the first and second floors and includes a generous lobby with water feature, monumental stair, and seating areas with panoramic views. Radiating out from this central space on the first floor are labs, clean rooms, conference spaces, a client demonstration area, and employee fitness center and full-service cafeteria. On the second floor, open and enclosed offices for administration and executive staff sit adjacent to an executive training center. The resulting space fosters innovation, partnerships, and productivity.
