Scope:
Pleasant Street Christian Reformed Church was built in 1929 and completed a building addition in 1996. Building envelope was experiencing water penetration in certain areas.
Services:
GRLA conducted a capital needs assessment to determine the vulnerable areas and prepare an appropriate plan to repair the deteriorated conditions. GRLA recommended the repairs be conducted in three phases. First “phase” focused on 1929 building south elevation and associated towers. GRLA provided design and construction administration services for the following:
Stabilization repairs – rebuild sections of deteriorated masonry, install helical ties throughout work area, remove and replace gutters, remove and reinstall coping stones to install new flashings, and remove and replace low-slope roofs
Moisture infiltration repairs – repoint 100%, remove and replace window lintels (include new flashings), remove and replace through-wall and reglet flashings, remove and replace sealants
